Tip for Websites
Please refrain from having music on your site. But if you can’t resist the temptation, please make it easy to find the mute button. Otherwise, people will just leave. I know music and photography go well together, but not everyone wants to listen to “Storm Gathering” from Stock20.

This was actually the inspiration for the entire top ten group post.
Humpty Dumpty Craft
I am giving classical education a try. Raine will be 5 in March, so hopefully by the time she is in first grade, I’ll have all this stuff figured out. Raine gets bored very easily. I don’t mean intellectually, she just can’t think of things to do on her own. Having the day planned out is good for the both of us. It avoids me just turning on the television simply to keep her occupied.
We officially start with lesson plans next week. Today I went to the library for books with fairy tales (the original pre-Disney versions), nursery rhymes and classical tales. I wasn’t sure what we would do other than read them. I thought about coloring sheets, but they are so overused. I surfed the internet for “Mother Goose crafts” and found a couple of ideas. Then, it hit me! Make a Humpty Dumpty character out of plastic eggs. They turned out fine, however most of the work has to be done by an adult : (
While we/I made these, Raine recited the beloved poem. Tomorrow I’ll have her write the first sentence.
Supplies:
plastic Easter eggs
chenille stems (aka pipe cleaners)
foam sheets, felt, maybe even construction paper or colored cardstock
pom poms, buttons, sequins or anything you’d like to use as embellishments
hot glue
sharpie marker (if you are brave enough to let your child use one)
First we drew a face on our eggs. This was about the only step Raine could do herself. Note: the photo is the one I drew on.

Then I took a stem for the arms and one for the legs. I folded them in half and twisted. Then shaped them into horseshoe shapes.

Then I used the hot glue to attach them to the eggs. I glued the arms to the back and came around to the front. The legs were glued to the bottom.
Next I made a cone hat out of foam and glued it to the egg.

Then I snipped the tip off and glued a pom pom. I then let Raine draw on her hat. It would have been better to cut out the hat, and let her decorate it while I did everything else.
